Coding this morning

Filed under: General News — Miss Davis at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, February 21, 2018

This morning we had a very exciting visit from Darren and his team who taught us Morse code!

We started the morning by signing to agree that we would keep our codes top secret, as they could help the world! We then learnt the DIT DAH dance, this was the sounds that our code made. Each sound meant we moved in a different direction, lots of us had a go at the dance – (they were very good!!)

After this we used the coding mat to help break the code to figure out when Germany would come to Britain, we worked in small groups to figure out the different letters for the answer. A really exciting and interesting morning and some fantastic learning to be done! Well done and a big thank you to Darren!!

A busy evening for all I imagine, but please don’t forget to read! Lots of children had read 4 times this week and need just 1 more to get the big certificate and a extra treat tomorrow during golden time!

Hoping you aren’t too danced out and can manage a little read before bed, if not – an early morning read will do the job!

Lookng forward to handing out lots of certificates tomorrow. πŸ™‚

This evening we have our very exciting school disco! It is a glow in the dark disco, so make sure you’re glowing!!

KS1 disco starts at 4:00 until 5:00,Β

KS2 disco starts at 5:30 until 6:30.Β

You need to pay Β£3 on the door to for your child πŸ™‚ Please try to have the correct money. There will be snacks, sweets and drinks to buy at the disco so change is needed.

Children that are attending After School Club need to ensure they have an adult to collect them and change (if you wish) and drop them back to the disco, they then need to be collected at the appropriate time for their key stage.

Thank you,

Enjoy,

And glow!

Castle building

Filed under: General News — Miss Davis at 3:42 pm on Wednesday, February 7, 2018

Today in science we looked at all the materials we’d been discussing over the last few weeks and thought about what kind of castle we could make with them. Children had to choose the ‘best’ material for their own castle and write about the properties their castle had.

How has music changed since the 11th century?

Filed under: General News — Miss Davis at 3:47 pm on Monday, February 5, 2018

Today in year one we have been exploring different kinds of music and thinking about what has changed since the 11th century. We found out that music today uses more instruments and computers to make sounds where as music back then was very calm and mostly consisted of using deeper voices, harps and slow drums.
